Lucky desu.

YLSNE: It's good to be alive. This didn't make it to the papers, so I'm blogging it..slim chance one of my rescuers would see, but well. ^^

Short version of the story..
I'd like to thank three passers by for helping me up after I had fallen on the train tracks at Redfern station about 0840h, Tuesday, 6th November. I had overexerted myself and was very disoriented, and barely even knew how I got there. I know two (a guy and girl?) could be students at USyd -- the girl mentioned an exam at 9.20 or so -- while the other man seemed to have been called Frederick. All were complete strangers, and because of them, I am glad to be alive. I'd like to thank them from the bottom of my heart. I might not be able to recognise you if I see you again, but contact me (jennkei@gmail.com!) and I'll hug you and treat you to lunch, or something. :D I also extend a big thank you to the CityRail officers who kept an eye on me, and the paramedic who made a wasted trip – they were caring even if they didn't seem to understand my insistence in going for the exam.

{Longer version..}

I had a feeling it was going to be an unlucky sixth of November. I'd woken up late on an exam day, hadn't had enough time to catch a bite of breakfast, had to run to catch two trains (missed the first). What was worse, in the second train towards Redfern I realised it was happening again -- dizziness, nausea, my eyesight starting to go. Trying to hang on made the short trip from Strathfield to Redfern seem like an eternity.

When the train doors opened, I don't have a clear idea of what happened -- one second I was trying to get into the cool air outside, the next (I was later told) I had stumbled across the platform, fallen onto the tracks at the next platform, and was sitting down over this hard metal my brain vaguely registered as the train tracks. I was badly disoriented and my vision was practically useless, but I heard people call to me, and strong arms lifted me back up onto the platform. The three people who had initially helped me up made sure I rested and stayed down. (I tried to get up a few times but was gently discouraged, probably for the better.) Barely five minutes after I was pulled up, a train rumbled past. If no one had seen and helped me at 0840h or so...I can only imagine I would be a splatter on the tracks.

I eventually made it to my exam, but couldn't get hold of my rescuers' names. I know two (a guy and girl?) could be students at USyd -- the girl mentioned an exam at 9.20 or so -- while the other man seemed to have been called Frederick. All were complete strangers, and because of them, I realise it was a lucky day for me after all. You hear about people falling on the track, but taking your health for granted, you think it'd never happen to you. My faith in the inherent goodness of mankind restored, I'd like to thank them from the bottom of my heart. I might not be able to recognise you if I see you again, but contact me/poke me (jennkei@gmail.com!) and I'll hug you and treat you to a few lunches. :D I also extend a big thank you to the CityRail officers who kept an eye on me, and the paramedic (my apologies for the wasted trip XD) -- while they didn't seem to understand my insistence in going for the exam, (I really wanted to get it over and done with. :/) they were very caring. I'm sorry I didn't let you guys take my details down before I rushed off, do contact me (I do have a handphone..I just hadn't brought it that day >.>) if you need to record them.

It's good to be alive.
